THIS IS NOT cast iron or Rivetted carbon STEEL. THIS IS seamless one-piece WROUGHT IRON.
Cast iron is great, but times change, and now there is a better option. Our wrought iron pans cook and season like cast iron, but are HALF the weight (3mm pans, and our 4mm XHD are still lighter than cast iron). Our wrought iron is also much more conductive, with still plenty of thermal mass for searing the biggest steaks. We have longer, cooler vented handles, and our Raw pans are smoother than vintage cast iron. Wrought iron is also much tougher, and will never crack like cast iron can.
Or, another way to think of our pans is like a French carbon steel pan, but more conductive low carbon iron, and wrought in one rivetless seamless indestructible piece. Our warranty is multi-century.
Like cast iron, formed iron/steel has been well-known among experts for centuries. The famous French thick steel chef pans are used in all the best restaurants of the Western world because they heat so evenly, beautifully brown foods like cast iron, and for their ability to build a healthy, natural nonstick surface through seasoning. Chefs destroy synthetic-coated pans within months. Formed iron/steel cooks much the same as cast iron, but with less weight, so thus more manageable for chefs to swing around for long periods, but rivets have always been a problem for hygiene (gunk around rivet heads), and working their way loose.
The engineers at SOLIDTEKNICS have always loved cooking with French steel pans, but wanted to find a way to finally eliminate the rivets holding the traditional skinny strip steel handles, and make a more comfortable and cooler handle for chefs. And make them 100% in Australia from clean Australian steel.....and make them competitively. Not an easy list of goals.....
There are no other production seamless one-piece steel chef pans. Nobody thought it was possible. Now the results speak for themselves.
All SOLIDITEKNICS cookware is compatible with all rangetop heat sources (being solid iron/steel, they are perfect for induction), safe for glass tops (seasoned iron is much softer than enamelled iron), oven-proof, and tough enough to take camping and use over open fire pits or in high-temp wood-fired ovens.
SOLIDTEKNICS pans are so tough they come with a multi-century warranty: click here for details.

Here's some beautiful reviews of our AUS-ION™ cookware by Jeff Rogers, the Culinary Fanatic, a respected iron cooking expert in the USA. (Like all reviews we share, this is unpaid independent opinion.)
AUS-ION™ 18cm and 26cm Skillets. Formed from one tough seamless piece of 3mm Australian iron. Developed by the engineer/cooks at SOLIDTEKNICS specifically for commercial restaurant cooking, and that also makes them ideal for any serious home cook, and anyone interested in a healthier, more sustainable, and more durable alternative to disposable synthetic-coated pans.
Yes, we're proud to be the only production cookware manufacturer in Australia......and we stamp that in iron.
If you are unfamiliar with seasoned iron/steel cookware, please read this first:
We did not invent seasoning, or iron pans …
Cooks have been seasoning iron (hand-wrought and cast) for over 2,000 years.....with no special oils, no websites, and no YouTube videos :-) . A hundred years ago everyone just knew this. There was no other option: almost all cooking was on iron/steel pans, and everyone had to keep them seasoned. They just did it.
If seasoning is new to you, it is only because for 2 generations we’ve been sold synthetic nonsticks (and aluminium, stainless steel) and forgotten the old ways. Turns out, we went backwards when we listened to the marketeers and their corporate ‘scientists’. The real independent scientists now have made it clear that synthetic nonsticks are toxic, and should never be used (see https://thedevilweknow.com/ and a summary of our research is here https://bit.ly/2vYssHD ), and that is why so many cooks are switching back to iron/steel and seasoning. We didn’t invent seasoning, we’re just here to help remind everyone.
Remember also that we didn’t invent the iron pan: we just took them to a whole new level of performance and durability with our exceptional iron and patented machine-wrought method. We also aren’t the only iron/steel pans that need seasoning. Tens of millions are sold every year, and successfully seasoned by cooks all around the world. The millions of pans in cast iron, carbon steel, woks, etc, are seasoned just like ours, using many different methods that work. In fact, very few methods don’t work. Seasoned iron won’t be quite as slick and simple as synthetic nonsticks, and you will need to use (healthy) oils and good temperature control (real cooking). We believe that is a small concession for eliminating the toxins and landfill problems with disposable synthetics.
The Choices is yours:
If you are unwilling to learn about seasoning iron pans, and/or your main concern is convenience and nonstick slickness in cookware, you are comfortable with the warnings from scientists about the toxicity of synthetic nonsticks, and the unsustainable damage disposables are doing to the environment (production and landfill), then you should not buy our wrought iron cookware.
If you are concerned about health and sustainability in cookware, you are willing to learn the simple seasoning to achieve a reasonable nonstick pan (like the hundreds of millions of other iron/steel pan cooks all around the world), and you value a pan that will never crack or fall apart over your lifetime, and then be passed down as a family heirloom for many generations, then our pan is the only one in the world that achieves all that. The choice is yours entirely.

Whatever happened to.....
Our AUSfonte cast iron range was discontinued in September 2017. We believed it was the best cast iron cookware on the market, but it was very difficult to manufacture in Australia, and cost was high. Now we are 100% focussed on developing our more successful patent-pending wrought iron and wrought stainless steel cookware ranges in the coming years.....and generations. If you would like to know more about why we discontinued AUSfonte, while we and our customers still loved it, read the background here.
