The hard work continues at our Australian foundry to finish off the AUSfonte(TM) 24cm Sauteuse pans after casting of our First Edition series on October 2.
The rare and limited series pan that is set to become a much sought-after collectible. No more First Edition pans were available after orders closed on Sept 21 when our Kickstarter project closed. Most owners will probably want to keep their AUSfonte pan as a multi-generation family heirloom. Don't despair if you missed out: more collectible heirlooms available soon -- see below.
Cast, trimmed, and sanded smooth on the cooking surface. Ready for pre-seasoning where we bake them black, at high temperature with food safe vegetable oil to give them the tough protective seasoning layer: a head-start for your further seasoning, which is still the only method which exists for a nonstick pan without synthetic coatings. More casting action coming on October 14, with a large batch being cast for our retailers. That, and all future batches, will be cast underneath with 'CAST' and the date in place of 'FIRST EDITION'. Still a very collectible item with the exact casting date cast under each pan. We are also preparing the launch of several new models in the AUSfonte range, including some very intersting patent pending innovations (yes, innovation is possible in cast iron)!
